If there is one restaurant in Minneapolis with some of the best Asian fare that provides not only All You Can Eat (AYCE) and Korean BBQ (KBBQ) in a single setting Dong Hae is a cut above the rest. Its typical to find either one individually In some places for $50 alone but for $45 a person with a DEEP menu of starters, sides, meats, and sushi you'll walk in thinking you're going to need to come back for another round but don't feel surprises when you struggle just to make it thru your first order. My wife and I took our 2 oldest boys for our son's 21st birthday after never having tried KBBQ and he was thoroughly impressed. For those who have never been before its a little tricky to find the entrance but once you make it inside there is plenty of seating and room at the table (even with the grill) to fill up! From the 4 massive sushi roles to cooking through all of the meats after our starters of gyoza and tempura plus the flavorful chili sauce on the chicken wings, and the fried rice was easily large enough for 2 to split. The service was prompt and the staff attentive, and with the reasonable costs (be warned about the Minneapolis sales tax and automatic gratuity for AYCE) even living in the south suburbs this was well worth the trek into the city for an amazing meal for a special occasion.

I came in literally on a whim and just was immediately greeted by kindness. The atmosphere is very modern, business casual. The restaurant serves Korean bbq and has a great sushi selection. I chose the chef's choice and i was not disappointed. The number of nigiri and the roll chosen was exquisite. Not to mention the side dishes were superb, i really enjoyed the potato and the fish cake. I will definitely return and try the Korean bbq.

For my birthday my son-in-law suggested that we try Dong Hae Korean Grill. So we did. Parking for me was a cinch since we parked on the street, BUT for my son who attempted to park in the lot just west of the restaurant it was a debacle -- $50 for event parking despite the fact that the Vikings game was over 3 hours previously... *eye-roll* Then, you can't figure out how to enter the place since it's on the second floor and when you FINALLY realize that you need to go around to the rear/side door you climb the steps only to be greeted with "NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS" on the door. And STILL no sign indicating that you're at the right place. Then the host desk is inside and around the corner to the right.... JEEZ they make it hard to get in... then they didn't even have our reservation for 6 plus a high chair. With all of that, I had ZERO hopes that we'd enjoy the evening, but I was wrong. We really did have a good time. We ordered the beef and pork combo with sides, a kimchi pancake, and fried dumpling thingy. We cooked the meat ourselves on the tabletop grill and it all became an event. A fun event. The marinated pork was our favorite then the marinated been rib and we all ate our fill! For 6 adults the bill came to just over $200 and that included the 18% gratuity already factored in. I'll be back!! (Just park on the street...)

The all-you-can-eat buffet offers Japanese sushi and Korean BBQ. The price is very reasonable. The sushi is quite good, and the BBQ offers a wide variety of ingredient options. The beef short rib is the best! The side dishes are wonderful and authentic. The waiters and waitresses are very welcoming. They introduced us to the authentic Korean dishes and explained the best way to eat them. The environment is suitable for family dining and hanging out with friends. You need to pay for parking outside their parking lot, but $4 is not bad at all for parking in Minneapolis.

For authentic KBBQ in Minnesota, this is the place to go. If you love Korean food and meat, the AYCE is the choice to make. Note this review is based on the limited Korean food offerings in Minnesota. Don't expect the same flavors of what you'd get in LA, TX, or Chicago. But if you're craving KBBQ, Dong Hae will do it for you without travel ;). Located off Washington, walking distance between US Bank stadium and the Guthrie. Small parking lot but lots of metered street parking. Before I get to the food, here's what I appreciate: they take reservations, they have grills at the tables, fairly large space, a chime at our table to call our server, and our server Eunice was fantastic. Ok now onto the food... I really loved that they offer such a variety of Korean food outside of just grilled meat such as appetizers, Korean stews, and noodles. All were good, spice level was definitely tempered for more the MN palate. For me, I would have preferred more spice and pungency (iykyk). But again, we're in MN. As part of the AYCE, we tried everything, but ordered only one of each (non meat) item just to taste and share first since we didn't want to get too full. We were warned that they have a charge for wasted food. Rather than rate every dish, here's a list of what we would order again at our next visit: 1) bibimbap 2) grilled mackerel 3) jajang myun 4) chicken wings 5) soybean stew (if you like a bit of pungency and umami) 6) spicy squid stir fry For meats, this is all that we ordered. Would definitely order it again. 1) LA Kalbi 2) pork belly (non marinated) 3) NY strip steak 4) brisket 5) spicy pork bulgogi We also had the sushi but to be honest, the star of the dinner was the grilled meats. What you should know: 1) surcharge of 4% for credit cards 2) 18% gratuity for AYCE 3) charge for wasted food (no worries on our end because we ate it all) 4) ask for the Korean Melona bar (Korean ice cream bar) for dessert Come hungry and enjoy!

My husband and I stopped in today around five and it wasn't busy so we were seated quickly. This location was a little difficult for us to find but it is located on the second floor facing the paid lot. Our first experience here was really nice, Lee was a very personable waiter and was very helpful with the ins and outs of using the grill. I loved the Tteokbokki and all the sides that came along with the BBQ. I want to come back again and try the jjajangmyeon!

Overall good; and a place to visit at least once. I enjoyed the easy parking - although you do have to pay for it. We did the bbq - which was good; except we added a side of marinated pork and we didn't realize we got unmarinated pork and was really disappointed about it. The marinated beef options were all very good; . Not a fan of the marinated chicken. Side dishes were a hit or miss; there were some I wish I knew what they were called to make it! It was very expensive. What you see was about $170.
